Northside began as a means to continue training for the sport of Strongman. It started in a one car garage with a single squat rack. On the weekends, I recruited two training partners and hauled the strongman gear to the local high school. We used what we had and started to develop a following.
Suddenly, our garage was a hub for local interest and was one of the only strongman training spots in the state of Alaska. The gym grew piece by piece. We expanded to a two-car garage in 2014. Every Saturday, our driveway was overflowing with cars parked on the grass and in the road. People were genuinely interested in getting strong and supporting each other. This is when we knew we had to create the best strength training facility in Alaska. Now, 10 years later, Northside Athletics offers an extensive training space for all types of athletes.
