Speciality Areas: 1/1 Coaching, General Population, Strongman & Powerlifting

I love coaching at Northside. I have a Barbell class and also coach 1 on 1. Six years ago I could have never imagined the passion I would end up having for teaching these basic life movements we need In our life. Lifting isn’t just for young folks or to lose weight. Lifting and moving is for longevity and I absolutely love seeing how it is changing peoples lives. Most in my class have never stepped into a gym and I am so proud of the Northside Family and community for making a safe place for them to learn and train.

Aimee has been a competitive powerlifter and strongman athlete since 2016. She has competed at every level in strongman, from locally to internationally. Most recently winning a national championship at United States Strongman Nationals!

Elisabeth Murray NASM-CPT, GGS-CPPC

Specialty Areas: Pre/Postnatal, Personal Training, Small Group

I am a lifelong Alaskan. I love being a mom to my 3 kids and finding adventures in the great outdoors with my family and our two dogs. I've been in love with weightlifting for 12 years and competed in bodybuilding for 2 years before I decided it wasn't a path I wanted to stay on. I went to Matt for strength coaching and totally smashed my goals and it felt amazing!

What I love most about lifting is the process -- training mind and body to overcome challenges and being able to see and feel transformations both physically and mentally. I am passionate about helping others achieve new levels of strength, health, and confidence on their fitness journey!

Steven Shannon M.S, NSCA-CPT

Specialty Areas: Youth Athlete Development, Strength & Conditioning & General Population

I have a M.S. in Applied Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning, am a NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer, and have taught high school physical education in Fairbanks for more than a decade.

I am always looking to provide the strength coaching and encouragement that I missed as a young athlete. I work with youth as young as nine years old in our summer programs and stay hip to the jive of our teen athletes during after school training during the school year. I produce some of Northside’s template programming and am always happy to help encourage the gym community.
